Kreuz Subsea 'QHSE Policy'

We, as a Team, are strongly committed in thinking, conceiving, planning and executing our activities and projects in full accordance with the terms of the United Nation definition of Sustainable Development:

"Meeting the needs of the present,
Without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their owns needs"

(World Commission on Environment and Development -96th plenary meeting -11 December 1987)

The Quality Health Safety and Environment Standards Requirements are indispensables tools for continuous improvement of our Company. However, far beyond the Paperwork requirement is the meaning of these standards which is essential. We consider that we must indeed:

  • Prevent ill-health, injury and pollution
  • Preserve and Promote:
    • Health and Well Being of our Team Members, Subcontractors, Clients and Community
    • The Environment in which we live and which is part of the heritage we will leave to our Children and to the Future Generations,
  • Identify the needs of our Clients and satisfy them in delivering services and accompaniments perfectly fitted to match the evolutions of their requirements.
  • Assess and Enhance the Competencies of our Team Members, and ensuring them the availability of resources which allow them to perform their work in accordance with this Policy.

Competencies Assessment and Enhancement, Hazard Identification and Risk Exposure Analysis, Stop-Work, Management of Change, Incident Reporting and Investigation, Lessons Learnt, and Personal Protective Equipment Compliance are all themes fully included into the way we drive our work. These themes are documented, and each Kreuz Subsea Team Member receives induction about it and is asked for personal commitment. Well being also means for us safe behavior and compliance with the Singapore Laws and Rules regarding fight against drugs, prohibition of alcohol at work, smoking restriction, safe driving practices and conservation of Energy.

The Chief Executive Officer, assisted by our QHSE Director, shall take ultimate responsibility accountability and authority for establishment, implementation and continuous improvement of our Management System in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 Standards, with the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) guidelines, and with the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (OGP) Guidelines.

On the offshore workplaces the Kreuz Subsea Superintendent and/or the Kreuz Subsea Supervisor takes responsibility of the adherence to this Top Policy and to the whole Kreuz Subsea Integrated Management System.

Our QHSE Director endorse specific responsibility for ensuring that the Kreuz Subsea Integrated Management System is established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the three standards, and for ensuring that reports of the Management System performance are presented to top management for review and used as basis for continuous improvement our Integrated Management System.

Kreuz Subsea 'Stop Work Policy'

Should any occasion arise where it is felt that to commence or continue with a work activity may result in harm to any or all of the above, then work must cease immediately and the task re-evaluated for a safer and harmless approach.

If there is any doubt about ceasing the activity, your immediate supervisor should be advised and consulted on the best way to continue.

Kreuz Subsea 'Prohibition of drugs and alcohol Policy'

Kreuz has recognised the risks involved when the effects of drugs and alcohol are present in the workplace and has adopted the "Zero-Tolerance" policy for unauthorised drugs or alcohol on company premises.

On the basis of our wish to Cause No Harm to anyone or anything, no person will be permitted to enter any company work location if they are under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or improperly utilised medical drug.

The company reserves the right to perform drug and alcohol testing at any time." Entry into any work location is conditional upon the company's right to search personnel and their belongings for contraband items. Searches may be conducted by authorised personnel in a private and in as discreet a manner as possible.

Possession or use of any of the above contraband items, failure to consent to a drug and alcohol test, failure to consent to inspection of person and personal belongings, is grounds for immediate termination.

Kreuz Subsea 'Non Smoking Policy'

"While it is recognised that everyone makes a personal choice whether to smoke or not, medical evidence clearly points out the fact that smoking and second hand smoke can cause irreparable damage to the body.

Therefore, in applying our principle of CAUSE NO HARM, smoking is not permitted in any public area, including:

  • Any permanent and/or temporary offices, accommodations or hallways.
  • Common areas such as galley, recreation room, etc;
  • Storerooms or warehouses
  • First Aid Clinics
  • Mechanical or electrical spaces.
  • Any other area designated by the senior person in charge.

Where smoking is permitted, it shall be clearly indicated as a designated smoking area.

It is the responsibility of employees utilising the designated smoking areas to ensure its general cleanliness and upkeep at all times and to ensure no cigarette butts remain lit, which may lead to a fire."

General Duties and Responsibilities

It is my responsibility, as a Kreuz Subsea Team Member to familiarize myself with all diving/work related documents prior to taking part in any subsea/topside operations.

The Superintendent/Supervisor will ensure that all personnel have read and understood these documents. They will also ensure that all operations are conducted in accordance with the Kreuz Subsea policies and procedures contained in these documents.

As a Kreuz Subsea Team Member I have the duty to:

  • Comply with all statutory regulations.
  • Ensure that my standard of work complies with Company and Client requirements.
  • Familiarize myself with company safety and operational procedures, and to carry out my activities in accordance with those procedures.
  • Familiarize myself with all information issued by the company referring to the safe use of equipment, plant and materials.
  • Inform the Supervisors, Safety Representative and/or the Kreuz Subsea QHSE Department of any potential hazards which I have identified during the execution of my duties.
  • Actively participate in the Behavioral and Hazard observation program of Kreuz Subsea (i.e. SMILE Cards - PAKAT Cards).
  • Actively participate in all QHSE meetings. My attendance is Mandatory.
  • Maintain, as appropriate to my status, an in date medical certificate issued by an approved doctor.
  • Maintain in-date survival and fire-fighting certificates and any additional requirement, which may be introduced by the company.
  • Provide documented evidence to my immediate work site supervisor of compliance with the preceding paragraph.
  • Ensure the health and safety for me and for any other personnel who may be affected by my acts or omissions at work.
  • Co-operate with other personnel and their supervisors in order to ensure compliance with safe working practices.
  • Ensure that the standard of work of my immediate colleagues complies with the required standards. I have the duty to ensure that I do not:
    • Compromise the safety and integrity of plant and equipment.
    • Undertake any task or operation unless I have received adequate instruction and training and have the appropriate tools, equipment and protective clothing.
    • Carry out any tasks or operation in such a manner as may endanger my safety or the safety of others.
  • Take care of my Personal Protective Equipment and carry it with me for each mobilization.
  • Cause no harm: no harm to myself, other people, our equipment whether owned or leased, materials, others assets, the environment in which we work, the planet as a whole and future generations who will inherit the legacies we leave behind.

Involvement in the Level 4 of Risk Hazard Identification and Risk Exposure Assessment

For Kreuz Subsea, the Hazard Identification and Risk Exposure Assessment must remain as a CONTINUOUS PROCESS. Following the three Levels of Hazard Identification and Risk Exposure Assessment defined by the Association of Oil & Gas Producer, the Level 4 is essential and I must implement it WHILE PERFORMING MY WORK. In short, Level 4 is an 'Online / Live' monitoring / action process while my work is being actually carried-out.

These four Levels allow me to maintain a high level of awareness and make me capable:

As a Kreuz Subsea Team Member I have the duty to:

  • To identify the changes which occurs within the working environment,
  • To assess the gaps which exist between the expected Residual Risk Exposures which was determined prior performing the work, and the real situation/parameters/environment. (i.e. Diving Environment significant variations between what was prepared and mentioned in the Diving Plan and what the Diver has to face actually while diving)
  • To assess the adequacy of the tools, controls and precautions defined from Level 2 and Level 3,
  • If required, to apply the Stop Work Policy AND discuss with my Supervisor about how to cope with the existing situation,
  • If required, to actively participate in the implementation of the Management of Change Procedure.

While performing my work, I will comply with the Buddy System, "Work safely and look out after one another", to be able to:

  • Immediately alert my Team Mate, in the event of an unsafe act and/or an unsafe condition.
  • Immediately render assistance to my Team Mate in the event of an emergency.

Fitness to Work Offshore

As an Offshore Kreuz Subsea Team Member, my mental and physical fitness are essential for my safety and for the safety of the work operations I participate in. Unfit, I represent a hazard to myself as well as for the other members of the Team.

As my employer, Kreuz Subsea is responsible for ensuring that a medical assessment of my fitness to work offshore has been performed. I must have a valid Medical Certificate provided after a medical examination performed by a Medical Doctor, Oil & Gas UK registered (United Kingdom Offshore Oil and Gas Industry Association, trading as Oil & Gas UK).

International guidelines do not set any lower or upper age limit for medical fitness to work offshore. However, regarding the characteristics of the scope of work, whatever my age is, the Kreuz Subsea Management can require an additional medical assessment, if there is any doubt about my fitness to work,

As a Kreuz Subsea Team Member, I remain personally responsible to

  • Keep fit throughout the year. I know that smoking, in addition to the well known adverse effects on the human body, constitutes a risk factor for Occupational Diseases and Long Term Health Impairments.
  • Report a complete and accurate medical history to my medical doctor as the time of medical assessment.
  • Report any temporary unfitness to my Supervisor as a result of illness or accident occurring between medical examinations including illnesses and/or injury occurring on the worksite throughout the project I am working on.
  • Report any treatment/medication taken by me on the worksite throughout the project.

I must maintain my awareness about the main criteria for Fitness to Work Offshore, as listed below

  • No known physical or mental conditions that limits my ability to do the job.
  • No known physical or mental conditions that will jeopardize my safety or the team (e.g. loss of consciousness, orientation, panic attack).

If any doubt, I must inform my supervisor prior to the start of any work.

Fitness to Dive

As a commercial diver, my mental and physical fitness are essential for my safety and for the safety of the work operations I participate in. Unfit, I represent a hazard to myself as well as for the other members of the crew.

As my employer, Kreuz Subsea is responsible for ensuring that a medical assessment of my fitness to dive as an Offshore Commercial Diver has been performed. I must have a valid Medical Certificate provided after a medical examination performed by a Medical Doctor, Oil & Gas UK registered (United Kingdom Offshore Oil and Gas Industry Association, trading as Oil & Gas UK). The Medical Assessment of fitness to Dive encompasses the requirements for medical assessment of fitness to work offshore. Kreuz Subsea follows the IMCA guidance (set-out in information note D 20/01) to identify appropriates Oil & Gas UK registered Doctors, who are also specialized in Diving Medicine.

International guidelines do not set any lower or upper age limit for medical fitness to dive. However, regarding the characteristics of the scope of work, whatever my age is, the Kreuz Subsea Management can require an additional medical assessment, if there is any doubt about my fitness to dive,

As a Diver, I remain personally responsible to

  • Keep fit throughout the year. I know that smoking, in addition to the well known adverse effects on my body, constitutes a risk factor for Decompression Illness, for Occupational Diseases and for Long Term Health Impairments.
  • Report a complete and accurate medical history to my medical doctor as the time of medical assessment.
  • Report any temporary unfitness to my Diving Supervisor as a result of illness or accident occurring between medical examinations including illnesses and/or injury occurring on the worksite throughout the project I am working on.
  • Report any treatment/medicament taken on the worksite throughout the project.

I must maintain my awareness about the main criteria for Fitness to Dive, as listed below

  • No known physical or mental conditions that limits my ability to do the job as a diver (swim, communicate, manage responsibility, etc.)
  • No known physical or mental conditions that will jeopardize my safety or the team (e.g. loss of consciousness, orientation, panic attack)
  • No known physical or mental condition that might get worse as an effect of diving (e.g. conditions leading to baro-traumatism)
  • No known physical or mental condition that predisposes me for diving or occupational illness (e.g. presence of Patent Foramen Ovale).

If any doubt, I must immediately inform my supervisor prior to the commencement of any dive.

As a Kreuz Subsea Subcontractor, I shall ensure that my Team Members will familiarize themselves with all diving/work related and relevant documents prior to taking part in any subsea/topside operations.

The Kreuz Subsea Superintendent/Supervisor will ensure that my Team Members have read and understood these documents. They will also ensure that all operations are conducted in accordance with the Kreuz Subsea policies and procedures contained in these documents.

On the Kreuz Subsea worksites, my Team Members have the duty to:

  • Comply with all statutory regulations.
  • Ensure that my standard of work complies with Company and Client requirements.
  • Familiarize themselves with Kreuz Subsea safety and operational procedures, and to carry out their activities in accordance with those procedures.
  • Familiarize them with all information issued by my Company and by Kreuz Subsea referring to the safe use of equipment, plant and materials.
  • Inform the Supervisors, Safety Representative and/or the Kreuz Subsea QHSE Department of any potential hazards which they have identified during the execution of their duties.

Level 4 of Risk Hazard Identification and Risk Exposure Assessment

For Kreuz Subsea, the Hazard Identification and Risk Exposure Assessment must remain as a CONTINUOUS PROCESS.
